Server log files

When you open this website, our web server processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the amount of data transferred, the page you came from (referrer) and your browser (user agent). We use it only to deliver the website and protect it against abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log files are deleted as soon as they are no longer needed for these purposes.

Audience measurement with Plausible Analytics

To understand how this website is used, we run Plausible Analytics Community Edition on our own server (pa.tgbyte.de). It records the page visited, the page you came from (referrer), the time, browser, operating system, device type and the country derived from the IP address, as well as clicks on links to other websites, such as Google Play.

To count visits, Plausible derives a hash from the IP address and user agent with a key that changes daily. The IP address and user agent themselves are not stored, and the hash cannot be traced back to you. Plausible sets no cookies. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in anonymous audience measurement (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The statistics are deleted once we no longer need them.

No cookies, no third-party content

This website sets no cookies and loads no content from third parties. Fonts and images are served from our own server.

Link to Google Play

The “Get it on Google Play” link leads to the app’s Google Play page. Data is sent to Google only when you click it; Google’s privacy policy applies to that.

The app “Quarter To”

Last updated: October 22, 2026

In short

“Quarter To” does not collect any personal data. The app contains no ads and no analytics or tracking tools, and does not send any data to us. The Google Play edition contains Google's billing library for buying “Pro”; what that library sends to Google is described below.

Data stored on your device

The app only stores your widgets' settings (for example language, theme, font and the app to open on tap) and whether “Pro” is unlocked, locally on your device. These settings are needed to show the widget the way you set it up (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). A widget's settings are deleted when you remove it; the Pro flag stays until you uninstall the app.

List of installed apps

If you set a tap on the widget to open another app, “Quarter To” shows a list of the apps installed on your device. This list is only shown on your device; only the app you choose is stored, as part of the widget's settings. The list is not transmitted.

Android backup

If you have turned on Android backup, Android may include these settings in your backup with Google so they can be restored on a new device. You control this backup in Android's settings; it is performed by Google under Google's privacy policy. We have no access to it.

Permissions

  • Exact alarms – to update the widget on the minute.
  • Run at startup – to resume updates after a restart.

None of these permissions give access to personal data.

Google Play and buying “Pro”

If you get the app from Google Play, Google processes data under its own privacy policy. We have no influence on this.

The Google Play edition of the app contains Google's Play Billing library, through which you can buy “Pro” as a one-time purchase. The purchase itself is handled by the Google Play app on your device; your contract is with Google. We receive no personal data about buyers from Google, only anonymous sales statistics.

The billing library also sends its own diagnostic and usage data about its calls to Google whenever the app loads it. That happens when you open the app, the settings or the About screen, even if you never buy anything. This is why the edition needs the internet permission. Google determines the scope and purpose of this data; it is covered by Google's privacy policy. We have no influence on it and no access to it. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in offering purchases through Google Play (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The edition without Google Play (“FOSS”) contains no billing library and has no internet access.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Since we do not process any personal data about you, we usually hold no data these rights could apply to. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Saxon Data Protection and Transparency Commissioner.

Changes

If the app's features change, we will update this policy.
